League versus John Mitchels
We played local rivals John Mitchels
in our second game, of this seasons
Town League, at our Caherina pitch last
Saturday and were very lucky to come
away with a two point win.
Mitchels aided by a strong wind took
the game to us from the start and raced
into a four point lead, with points
from Paul and Alan O' Donoghue.
Some solid defending by Johnny Kelly,
who collected many breaking balls around
the middle of the field, prevented further
damage by Mitchels rampant forward line.
Declan Quill in the forward line kept
us in touch with some fine scores, our
cause was not helped by the sending
off of Morgan O Shea for a second yellow
card, for disputing the referee's decision,
early in the first half, half time score
was six points to four in favour of
Mitchels.
The second half saw the introduction
of Michael Quirke to the KoR full forward
line, where he made an immediate impact.
The Mitchels lead was slowly clawed
back and we eventually went into a four
point lead, with ten minutes to go Michael
Quirke became the second KoR man to
be sent off for disputing a referee's
decision.
Mitchels rallied for the last ten minutes
against the 13 man strand road team,
they clawed back two points but time
was not on their side.
KoR ran out two point winners on a score
of 11 points to 9, the second half performance
was a huge improvement on our first
half performance, with Stephen Moriarty
and John O Connor leading the way for
the home team.
